Later this afternoon, as we welcome the third night of Chanukah by lighting the menorah, and Shabbat, by lighting Shabbat candles, appreciate the special opportunity we have been given to celebrate our wonderful Jewish heritage.

When we light the Chanukah candles, we remember the miracles of yore, but we should also remind ourselves of the need to strengthen our commitment to Torah study and inculcating ourselves with Jewish values to withstand the powerful attraction of assimilation that abounds. To appreciate this important lesson, read this enlightening analysis entitled, “What is Chanukah Really About?” from Rabbi Ephraim Z. Buchwald’s Torah message for Mikeitz-Chanukah 5782-2021. Out of respect for Shabbat, please consider printing it on Friday afternoon if you plan to read it on Shabbat.
