Use the current month of Elul as an opportunity to seek out those you may have wronged, to ask for forgiveness.
While observing someone we know acting inappropriately, rather than presume that there were extenuating circumstances that prompted that action, people often assume the worst which leads to negative assumptions and slanderous allegations. Heed the words of Pirkei Avot, Ethics of the Fathers, found in Chapter 1, Mishna 6 “… judge others with the scale weighted in their favor.”
To appreciate the incredible breadth of wisdom contained in the Torah and to live a more spiritually elevated life, print out the first and second chapters of Ethics of the Fathers this afternoon, before Shabbat, and join thousands of fellow Jews around the globe who will be enjoying an uplifting experience and inspired discussions this Shabbat.
