Pray for the coming of the Messiah, speedily in our days.
Citing the Midrash, Rashi, in this week’s Torah portion, Vayechi, explains that our Forefather Jacob wanted to reveal to his children when the Messiah would come, but was prevented from doing so. While we are hopeful that the End of Days are near and the Messiah’s arrival is imminent, we are also mindful that the time preceding the arrival of the Messiah is known as Chevlei Mashiach, the travail of the arrival of the Messiah.
