On International Nurses Day, remember to thank nurses and other first responders for their courageous work.
In the fifth chapter of Pirkei Avot, Ethics of the Fathers, we are taught, “Whoever causes the multitudes to be righteous, sin will not occur on their account.” Nurses and first responders remind all of us how important it is that we use our God given talents to assist others, and thereby improve the lives of those with whom we come in contact. By involving themselves in good deeds and worthwhile pursuits, perhaps they are also less prone to sinful activities.
To learn more and appreciate the breadth of wisdom contained in the Torah, print out the fifth chapter of Ethics of the Fathers this afternoon and join thousands of fellow Jews around the globe who will be enjoying an uplifting experience and inspired discussions this Shabbat.
