Be aware of the image that you project your image with the clothing that you choose.
In its description of the bigdei kehunah, the clothing worn by the kohanim and the Kohain Gadol, the Torah highlights not only what they were to wear but he critical importance of doing so. The fact that the Almighty Himself fashioned clothing for Adam and Eve suggests that it was meant to distinguished man from beasts. After all, man was created in the image of God.
To appreciate the significance of the clothing worn by the Kohain Gadol and by man, read this illuminating thought entitled “Clothes: A Reflection of the Divine Image” from Rabbi Ephraim Z. Buchwald’s Torah message on this week’s Torah portion, Tetzaveh 5779-2019. Out of respect for Shabbat, please consider printing it on Friday afternoon if you plan to read it on Shabbat.
