Think about ways in which you can volunteer and give back to your community.
One of the biggest benefits of giving back to members of the community is interacting with different types of people. Learning to respect each person for who they are is a central tenet of third Mishna in the fourth chapter of Pirkei Avot, Ethics of the Fathers. “Do not be scornful of any person and do not be disdainful of anything, for you have no person without his hour and nothing without its place.”
To appreciate the incredible breadth of wisdom contained in the Torah and to live a more spiritually elevated life, print out the fourth chapter of Ethics of the Fathers this afternoon, before Shabbat, and join thousands of fellow Jews around the globe who will be enjoying an uplifting experience and inspired discussions this Shabbat.
