Learn how to properly prepare coffee on Shabbat so you can relax and enjoy a delicious hot cup while celebrating Shabbat.
The Aseret Hadibrot better known as the “Ten Commandments” appear not only in this week’s parasha, Yitro, but also in the Torah portion of Va’etchanan found in Deuteronomy. In analyzing the text of the Ten Commandments in both parashiyot, there are distinct differences in the text concerning two of the Commandments, namely, Shabbat and honoring parents.
To appreciate the reasons for the differences in the text and to put Shabbat and its observance into proper perspective, read this enlightening thought entitled “The Ten Commandments: The Differences” from Rabbi Ephraim Z. Buchwald’s Torah message on the Torah portion of Va’etchanan 5771-2011. Out of respect for Shabbat, please consider printing it on Friday afternoon if you plan to read it on Shabbat.
