The Chevra Kadisha (Jewish Burial Society) is a vital volunteer organization known for its anonymity. Helping to bury the dead is considered one of the most altruistic mitzvot, for the beneficiary [the deceased] can never pay back the act of kindness. There are many ways one can aid the Chevra Kadisha, including many that do not include coming in contact with the dead, such as making a financial donation to support the society’s work.
