Hello, I am a military officer stationed in Afghanistan. I worked for Dennis Prager for many years so of course I know of your amazing organization through him and Rabbi Joseph Telushkin. Although my husband is the Army theater rabbi here in Afghanistan, we are currently serving in opposite ends of the country; thus, I’m the Jewish Lay Leader for Kandahar. In addition to leading Shabbat services, I teach a Torah 101 course and oversee both men’s and women’s groups. I am very familiar with your crash course mini-books on the basics of Judaism and learning Hebrew and it would be so helpful if I had such resources. Is it possible for you to send me some of the crash course books and anything else you think can assist me with my Jewish outreach? We can take photos of the soldiers using your products if you would like. It would be such a tremendous help.

How about 15 each [of Hebrew and Basic Judaism]? I’m so happy!! The young Jews here in the military yearn for Jewish knowledge during war…this is my third deployment..I’ve seen it each time…your booklets will make all the difference in the world when I assist them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you, Rabbi…your note could not have come at a more propitious time…I’ve just returned from a ramp ceremony…7 flag draped coffins on a flight back to the states…returning to parents, spouses, children…7 young men who went to sleep last night not knowing it was their last…your words touch me so…

They have sacrificed their young lives so that we (& others) can live free. May their heroism be recognized by all & may we be inspired by their lives to be better, kinder people.

Received all the books…used them at our Judaism 101 class tonight. The students here were thrilled when they learned they could write in them. We had a rocket attack tonight…the dichotomy of learning the holy Hebrew letters and their enthusiasm to understand Torah/mitzvot versus the darkness that surrounds us and attempts to penetrate Hashem’s Light is striking. I’m glad for your sake you’re not here, but in some ways I wish you could have witnessed this blatant contrast of good vs. evil. Thank you.
