When reciting the Shema, whether in the morning or in the evening, remember to recite the words Baruch shem k’vod malchuto l’olam va’ed” (‘Blessed be the name of His glorious kingdom for ever and ever”) in a whisper.
Each day, we have the opportunity to connect to the Almighty and fulfill a Biblical commandment by reciting the Shema. In the final Mishna of the 4th Chapter of Pirkei Avot, Ethics of the Fathers, we are taught to appreciate who the Almighty is, and how we should understand our relationship with Him: “Blessed is He, for before Him there is no wrong, no forgetting, no favoritism, and no taking of bribes; know, that everything is according to the reckoning.”
Join thousands around the world who will be studying the fourth chapter of Ethics of our Fathers this Shabbat. Print out your copy before Shabbat and enjoy a truly uplifting learning experience.
