There is much to learn not only about the positive impact of Jewish women who lived in Egypt 3,000 years ago but also those who have made a real difference throughout the generations.
During the years of servitude in Egypt and subsequently while leaving Egypt and sojourning through the wilderness, the righteous Jewish women positively impacted the Jewish people.
To appreciate the significance of their actions and to better understand the Talmudic dictum in Sotah 11B, “In the merit of those righteous women who were in that generation, the Jewish People were redeemed from Egypt,” read this illuminating analysis entitled: “Jewish Women and Jewish Destiny” from Rabbi Ephraim Z. Buchwald’s Torah message for Vayakhel 5779-2019. Out of respect for Shabbat, please consider printing it on Friday afternoon if you plan to read it on Shabbat.
