NJOP and Jewish Treats wish our friends and followers a hearty Chag Sameach (Happy holiday!), as we celebrate the joyous holidays of Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah.
The joyous festival of Simchat Torah enables us to joyously celebrate the Torah and its precepts. in v’Zot Habracha, the final portion appearing in the Torah, Moses teaches the Jewish people that the Torah is a heritage rather than an inheritance to be shared and passed on diligently to the next generation.
To understand the critical difference between a heritage and an inheritance, read this enlightening analysis entitled “The Confluence of v’Zot Habracha and the Holiday” from Rabbi Ephraim Z. Buchwald’s Torah message for v’Zot Habracha-Simchat Torah 5776-2015. Out of respect for the Sabbath, please consider printing it on Friday afternoon if you plan to read it on Shabbat.
