Live your life knowing that during every moment, others will see your actions as representing Jews and Judaism.
While it may seem like we, as Jews, are held to a higher standard by the general public, we are certainly admonished to follow the Torah’s dictates and avoid acting in a way that might desecrate the name of Gd. In the fourth Mishna in the fourth chapter of Pirkei Avot, Ethics of the Fathers, we are taught, “…Whoever desecrates the Name of Heaven, in secret, they will enact punishment from him in public.”
To appreciate the incredible breadth of wisdom contained in the Torah and to live a more spiritually elevated life, print out the fourth chapter of Ethics of the Fathers this afternoon, before Shabbat, and join thousands of fellow Jews around the globe who will be enjoying an uplifting experience and inspired discussions this Shabbat.
