In Tractate Shabbat, 55A, we are taught, Chotamo shel Hakadosh Baruch Hu emet, that the seal of God is truth. At the beginning of the third chapter of Pirkei Avot/Ethics of Fathers, we are admonished to act prudently to avoid falling prey to sin. “Know from where you came, where you are going and before whom you will have to give an accounting.” Being honest in our dealings will, hopefully, place us in good stead when we enter the next world and have to face the Almighty.
