Don’t miss an opportunity to recite “Amen” to a blessing as it represents an affirmation that the statement made in the blessing is in fact true.
In this week’s parasha, Kee Tavo, the response of Amen by the Jewish people represents an acknowledgement of their commitment to follow the words of the Torah. In the second Mishna of the third chapter of Pirkei Avot, Ethics of the Fathers, we learn of the incredible benefit of Torah study, namely, that the Shechina, the Divine Presence actually joins those who study Torah.
To appreciate the incredible breadth of wisdom contained in the Torah and to live a more spiritually elevated life, print out the third and fourth chapters of Ethics of the Fathers this afternoon, before Shabbat, and join thousands of fellow Jews around the globe who will be enjoying an uplifting experience and inspired discussions this Shabbat.
