When considering a move to a new home, be sure to do your due diligence and inquire whether your prospective neighbors are upstanding individuals.
Never underestimate the critical importance of learning more about your prospective neighbors and the overall environment before committing to moving to a particular place. It’s essential to first consider whether the new environment will be conducive to personal religious growth. To appreciate the steps taken by our forefather Abraham in this week’s Torah portion, Vayeira, to find a favorable environment to live and raise a family, read this enlightening analysis entitled “Choosing The Right Neighbors” from Rabbi Ephraim Z. Buchwald’s Torah message for Vayeira 5767-2006. Out of respect for Shabbat, please consider printing it on Friday afternoon if you plan to read it on Shabbat.
