If there are Holocaust survivors in your family or in your community, make sure to speak with them and record their stories.
While it is impossible to compare the trials and tribulations of our Jewish ancestors who were prisoners of Egyptian bondage over 3,000 years ago to the suffering of Holocaust victims, incarceration and terrible living conditions dramatically impact upon the psyche and well-being of those subjected to that suffering. The slave mentality had a debilitating impact on the generation that were liberated from Egypt.
