We Offer HHBS Because
The JEC High Holiday Explanatory Program was created and designed to add meaning and understanding to the High Holiday services. Typically, attendees are Jews living full or part-time in South Florida, who do not belong to a local temple. The service is very user-friendly, with everything explained in English.
Rabbi Shimon Feder founded the JEC over 12 years ago with the mission to combat Jewish apathy and assimilation by reaching out and connecting every Jew, regardless of background, with their heritage. Rabbi Feder is a gifted and engaging speaker who is able to share the beauty of Judaism in an exciting, meaningful and relevant manner. Rabbi Feder leads several adult education classes at the JEC and our Hebrew school. Rabbi Moshe Goldstein is our campus rabbi at FAU and also leads our weekly Shabbat Explanatory Program throughout the year. He is a dedicated and charismatic educator with experience in teaching and mentoring young adults. Rabbi Avrohom Richmond is our youth and family coordinator. He is our Hebrew school principal, leads our high school program in Boca Raton and assisted in running our summer camp this year. He is enthusiastic, approachable and devoted to teaching Judaism in a fun and upbeat fashion.
The service follows an Ashkenazi format.

What to Expect:
While the rabbis that perform the service are Sabbath observant, the service itself was created for Jews of all backgrounds and affiliations. The service has mixed seating and is conducted almost entirely in English. The JEC runs a children’s program on both the first day of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur day. The children’s program is available for children between the ages of 5 and 13. Any child under age 5 can be registered for the childcare provided. We have one low fee of $36 that allows attendees to attend as much or as little of the High Holiday services we offer. We also offer a Day of Inspiration lecture between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. Anyone who registers and attends the lecture has the fee reduced to $25. We keep the charge affordable because we want every Jew in Boca Raton to have a place they can attend High Holiday services.
We are not a synagogue, our program is available to everyone regardless of background or affiliation. There is no membership or other fees involved.
