We Offer HHBS Because

We run an outreach organization at U of I where there are hundreds of students who could benefit for a beginners service.

Service Leader

Rabbi Dovid Baars, is the new JET Rabbi at U of I. He has lived the past five years in Israel, first in the seaside town of Zichron Yaakov and then in the Old City of Jerusalem

Service Type

Suitable for Ashkenazi or Sephardic, with not too much Hebrew.

What to Expect:

Shofar explanation, BBQ and deep mystical insights. It’s on a college campus, right in the heart of where most of the Jewish students live.

Who to Expect:

About 30 guests, mostly singles in their 20s and 30s.

Other Details

  • Adults only, please. No children allowed this year.
  • No dress code.
  • Wheelchair Accessible.
  • Every person is welcome.
  • A communal Tashlich service will take place.
  • A communal Yom Kippur break-fast may be held at Hillel and Chabad.
  • A communal or High Holiday meal may be available to participants.
